Photochromic lens that adapts to the light.

The Bastion lens reacts to UV light. It darkens as the sun gets stronger and clears back up in shade, under cover or indoors, so one pair covers the whole day. Most car windshields block UV, so the lens darkens less while driving. For night use, choose a clear lens. See every detail on this page.
Bastion was independently tested by Intertek Testing Services to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2025 and passed (report SZHH02236904, September 4, 2026). See the report on this page or open the full PDF.

Bastion
Bastion / Safety Series
Bastion is a tall-shield safety frame with a photochromic lens that darkens in the sun and clears up in the shade. Run it as safety sunglasses, or swap the arms for the strap and lock it in like a goggle. Built on a transparent grey TR90 frame and tested to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2025.

Anatomy

01 / 07A 2.2 mm grey photochromic polycarbonate lens. It darkens as UV gets stronger and clears back up in shade, under cover or indoors, so you stop swapping glasses every time the light changes.
A silver mirror coating on the outside cuts down bright glare. An anti-fog treatment on the inside helps keep your view clear when you are working hard or the air is cold and damp.
Tested to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2025, the American standard for occupational and educational eye protection. You will find the Z87.1 mark on the lower corner of the shield and the Trailvision logo laser-marked on the lens.
A one-piece 139 x 64 mm shield wraps your field of view top to bottom, with no center seam in your line of sight. More coverage against dust, debris and wind from the front and the sides.
Shine transparent grey TR90, a lightweight, flexible nylon that takes knocks and pressure instead of cracking. Trailvision logo laser-marked on both temples and BASTION on the inside of the arm.
Pick your seal. The half foam runs along the brow to stop sweat and debris from dropping in. The full foam wraps the whole frame for a sealed, goggle-style fit. Both are EVA foam with neodymium magnets, so they snap on and off in seconds.
Wear Bastion as safety sunglasses with the TR90 arms, or swap them for the elastic woven Trailvision strap and wear it like a goggle. One frame, two ways to lock in.
Photochromic lens
No clip-ons to carry and nothing to swap. The Bastion lens reacts to UV on its own, getting darker as the sun comes out and lighter as it fades.
Under cover, in the shop or on a grey morning, the lens stays light. Lab tested at 86 to 89% light transmission in this state.
Moving between trees, clouds and open ground, the tint shifts with the light instead of making you stop and change glasses.
In bright sun the grey deepens, and the silver mirror coating helps knock back harsh glare off sand, metal and water.
Photochromic lenses react to UV light. Behind a car windshield, which blocks most UV, the lens will darken less. The change also takes a little time, and it is a bit faster in cold weather than in heat.
Two ways to wear it
Same shield, same lens. Switch setups in a minute depending on the job, the trail or the weather.

Flexible TR90 arms for everyday wear. Add the half foam along the brow to stop sweat and dust from dropping in behind the lens.

Take the arms off, clip in the elastic woven strap and snap on the full foam seal. A closer, sealed fit for dust, wind and fast riding.
In the box
Every pair ships ready for both setups. Nothing to buy later, nothing left out.
Tech specs
Proof, not promises
Bastion was independently tested to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2025, the American national standard for occupational and educational eye and face protection. Twelve pairs went through the lab. Read the report yourself.
Test report covers the submitted Bastion samples against ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2025, excluding Clause 5.3 (Markings) and Clause 10 (Instructions, Use and Maintenance). Bastion was not evaluated for high mass or high velocity impact (Z87+), the optional anti-fog rating, dust or splash protection, welding or other hazard-specific uses. Eye protection does not replace task-specific protective equipment. Inspect before every use, and replace any protector that has taken an impact.
Questions
Yes. Bastion was independently tested by Intertek Testing Services to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2025 and passed (report SZHH02236904). The lens carries the Z87.1 mark, and you can read the full report in the section above. It is not rated for high mass or high velocity impact (Z87+), welding or chemical splash.
The lens reacts to UV light. It gets darker as the sun gets stronger and lighter in shade or indoors. Most car windshields block UV, so the lens darkens less while you are driving.
In low light the lens clears up. In its light state it measured 86 to 89% light transmission in lab testing, which is in the clear-lens range for Z87.1. Give it a few minutes to fully clear after coming out of bright sun, and if it still feels too dark for night driving, switch to a clear lens.
Use the half foam along the brow for everyday wear to stop sweat and dust from dropping in. Use the full foam with the strap when you want a sealed, goggle-style fit against dust and wind. Both snap on with magnets.
Remove the TR90 arms, clip the woven strap into the hinges on both sides and snap on the full foam seal. Reverse it to go back to sunglasses mode.
The Bastion frame with arms and the photochromic lens mounted, a half foam seal, a full foam seal and a woven Trailvision strap.
Titan is the clear-lens kit with two polarized clip-ons and side shields. Bastion is the one-lens option: a photochromic shield that adapts to the light, with a strap and two foam seals for a goggle-style fit. See Titan.
Rinse dust off with clean water, then wipe the lens with a microfiber cloth. Skip abrasive cleaners, which can damage the silver and anti-fog coatings, and store it in a case when you are not using it.
