Easter Jeep Safari 2025: A Legacy of Off-Road Adventure in Moab

Every spring, off-road enthusiasts from across the world make their way to Moab, Utah, for one of the most anticipated events in the Jeep and 4x4 community: the Easter Jeep Safari. This year, from April 12-20, 2025, the tradition continues, bringing together adventurers, industry leaders, and passionate off-roaders for nine days of trail-riding, camaraderie, and exploration in some of the most stunning landscapes the United States has to offer.

A Trailblazing History

The Easter Jeep Safari has deep roots dating back to 1967, when it was first organized by the Moab Chamber of Commerce. Back then, the event was simple—consisting of a single trail ride on the now-famous Behind the Rocks Trail. As the story goes, some of the early routes were either created or improved by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employees, with ice cream packages famously being dropped from airplanes at lunchtime as a special treat for participants. The following year, the Moab Rim trail was added, gradually setting the stage for an event that would grow into the massive spectacle it is today.

For many years, the event had a grassroots feel—no entry fees, no elaborate registration, just off-road enthusiasts signing up on a Saturday morning for a day on the trails. However, by 1982, changes in regulations required permits and insurance, forcing the Chamber to step aside. This pivotal moment led to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, a local club dedicated to off-roading, stepping up to continue the tradition. Under their leadership, the Easter Jeep Safari transformed into the multi-day event that now welcomes thousands of participants each year.

The Modern Jeep Safari Experience

Today, the Easter Jeep Safari is a nine-day celebration of everything off-road, culminating in the much-anticipated "Big Saturday" trail ride, which remains the heart of the event. The event has grown well beyond its humble beginnings, now featuring a sprawling vendor exposition, massive raffles, and an extensive selection of trails catering to all levels of off-roaders—from beginners looking for a scenic drive to hardcore rock crawlers testing the limits of their rigs.

Registration has evolved over the years as well. Initially run out of the Moab Chamber of Commerce, it eventually moved to Lion’s Park, then to a facility known as "the Barn," and now finds its home at the Spanish Trail Arena, a fitting venue that accommodates the ever-growing number of attendees. Here, participants not only register but also get the chance to interact with top industry brands showcasing cutting-edge off-road gear, accessories, and innovations.

More Than Just a Jeep Safari

While the Easter Jeep Safari remains the club's crown jewel, the Red Rock 4-Wheelers have expanded their activities to include additional events like the Labor Day Camp Out, monthly trail rides, and trail maintenance efforts to ensure that Moab’s legendary routes remain accessible to future generations of off-roaders. Their dedication to responsible wheeling, conservation, and community-building has solidified them as one of the most respected off-road organizations in the country.
